Anybody addicted to fishing will tell you, its the heart pounding adrenaline rush you get when a lunker hooks on and starts making the drag sing that keeps them coming back for more. Hell, when I see tail dances and high flying acrobatics I forget what day it is, I just hope the day doesnt end.  There is more to the story though, and as they say --a bad day fishing beats a good day working. Where else could you not accomplish your goal and still feel satisfied? I have a 15 foot SeaNymph aluminum bowrider with an old 1963 28 horse Johnson on the back, and it is the most valued possession I have. There is no better time spent then with my wife and kids on the water.

There is no REAL need for ultra-fancy, expensive equipment either. Sure theres fishing rods that cost over 250 dollars, and reels that go for over 300. They arent going to catch more fish than a cheap rod and reel in the hands of a dedicated angler though, and I can guarantee you the fish dont care how much youve spent on your gear. You can still have a great time without it costing a ton of dough.

An added bonus is the relative ease in which the inexperienced can get into the fun. Its not like it takes a ton of practice or knowledge to land a bass, and the amount of different lures and baits that can be used makes it even easier to accomplish. Anybody can get their hands on a few worms in the back yard and head off to the H2O for some action. Theres plenty of panfish to catch as well, and its hard to NOT catch a sunfish or perch in most places. My youngest daughter was 5 when she caught a 6 pound largemouth bass, and the smile she had was absolutely priceless. Im surprised at how many kids dont even go fishing nowadays.

While out on the water I find it easy to be relaxed no matter what the fishing is like, mingling with the loons and ducks.  If Im out in the boat or standing on shore by myself, I always take the time to just enjoy my surroundings. Watching the Eagles cruise around swooping down to snag a fish is reward enough to be out there. The sight of the hillsides speckled with the colors of early October leaves is just the icing on the cake.  Most days fishing are damn near perfect if you ask me.

Many people dont get to see that type of thing, and I wonder why they dont grab a pole and just go fishing.

Haven't gone fishing in quite a few years, but I always enjoyed it. Mostly I go trout fishing in the local streams. Now that my daughter is 5, I may take her out this year. Probably not on opening day though, it is overly crowded, you are fishing for fish who are starving and would eat a pebble if you tossed it in the water. Also, I wouldn't want to disturb the people who are there to seriously fish.

Have recently gotten in good with some of my sons contacts and have been doin some major Large mouth Farm Pond fishin, it is just a major kick in the ass to get on the unfished ponds and catch these 6-8 lb fish on small rods and bank'em. Major ....Major Rush, waitin for end of March and start it up again!

Yep, Lake of the Ozarks here in Missouri is my favorite spot. My friend has a cabin and we go down for a week once a year and hit a few weekends as well. We are lazy fishermen as we like to fish for Crappie and Catfish. Just find a hole on the lake and anchor and cast out. Pop open a beer, put on a cd or listen to Royals game or a race. No noise around fish is overated. We always catch fish when listening to the stereo or radio. Sometimes that hole will be a two hour spot or a two minute spot, but that's the beauty of it cause you just don't know, and if the only thing to worry about is catching a fish, then life is pretty good at that moment.

Fishin Hole

Definition of Boat :  A hole in the water surrounded by wood, into which one pours money !

So much water..... so little time.

Fish fear me, Women love me.

The two happiest days of a boat owner; The day he/she buys one, and the day they sell it.

A bad day fishing is better than a great day at work ! (works for hunting as well)

Can yer honnor student fillet a fish ?

Wow, I guess I should check my blogs more often cause I didnt know you guys replied. LOL

Im still waiting for the damn ice to go out up here, cant wait till the lake is open water again. There was about 20 inches of ice on the lake I fish on the last time I went out ice fishing.

I went out to the local river yesterday and tried out my newest addition to my arsenal, but as the chunks of ice were floating by I came to the conclusion that I was a wee bit pre-mature in my quest for fish. I did actually see a mayfly hopping on the water surface, so it wont be too much longer now. If I was any kind of brook trout fisherman Id be hitting the little hidden streams all over the place, but Im not. I mostly fish for smallmouth when Im out in the boat, and anything that I can snag along the way is just gravy. Pike fishing is a blast as well, but I dont go to those lakes as often as Id like to since the bass lake in my town is 3-4 miles away.

Hope you guys have good luck on the water,  keep the sun on your cheecks and your hooks sharp.

Fishin Hole

Went fishing on this brutally hot afternoon at the river a few miles away and caught some Smallmouth, Crappie and Pickerel. I landed one Pickerel 28 inches long, and dragging him out of that current was a blast. All were released to be caught again some other day. (and they are even bigger) Fish on!!!
